RF GFS 2 XL Wireless Foot Pedals for Welding Stations and Heavy-Duty Industrial Applications

The steute Controltec business unit is expanding its wireless foot control product range with a model specifically designed for heavy-duty industrial conditions. This new solution, particularly engineered for demanding work environments such as welding stations, addresses the real needs of the industry.

Why Wireless?

In welding applications, the service life of wired foot controls is considerably short due to welding spatter damaging the cables. Moreover, cables can create tripping hazards during operation, compromising workplace safety. Wireless systems fundamentally solve these problems.

However, standard foot pedals are not suitable for such applications. Their protective covers are not wide enough for the reinforced safety shoes worn by welders, and operators need to be able to use the pedals comfortably.

Design Tailored for Heavy-Duty Conditions

In response to these exact requirements, steute has developed a robust and extended protective guard made from powder-coated steel. This guard, mounted on the wireless foot control unit:

• Provides effective protection against welding spatter
• Allows comfortable operation of both pedals even with reinforced safety footwear
• Ensures protection against unintended activation
• Enables flexible positioning of the device thanks to the carrying handle

Next-Generation Wireless Technology

Inside the protective guard sits the RF GFS 2 XL wireless transmitter unit, protected against mechanical impact. Its key features include:

• Reliable signal transmission up to 45 meters in indoor environments
• Construction resistant to the harsh conditions of industrial settings
• One of the first products equipped with SW2.4LE-IND, the latest wireless standard in serial production

From Field Testing to Standard Product The RF GFS 2 XL was initially developed as a custom project for a company manufacturing welded structures. Following successful field trials, it has now been incorporated into steute’s standard wireless control product portfolio and is available to all customers.
