In Madrid, on April 21–23, At WindEurope 2026, global independent quality assurance and risk management company DNV is preparing to share leading perspectives on critical topics including offshore wind energy scaling, digitalization, and sector industrialization. The company will meet with industry professionals at Stand E130 in Hall 9, while addressing fundamental dynamics of the energy transition through its expert lineup during the two-day conference program.

Holistic Energy System Transformation Takes Center Stage

DNV’s focus at WindEurope 2026 extends beyond technological developments alone, offering a comprehensive framework encompassing the holistic transformation of the energy system. In this context, DNV Energy Systems CEO Ditlev Engel will speak on the panel titled “Data Centres and Electrification: Enablers, Competitors… or Both?” The former Vestas CEO will evaluate the pressure of rapidly growing data center demand on electrical systems and the strategic role of offshore wind energy in meeting this demand.

The Critical Role of Digitalization and Certification

Another prominent figure at the event will be Juan Carlos Arévalo, recently appointed to a new digital leadership role at DNV. Arévalo will address the scaling of digital technologies in the renewable energy sector and their contribution to performance optimization, emphasizing the defining role of data-driven operational efficiency in the sector’s future. DNV’s VP of Renewables Certification, Mette Redanz, will highlight the impact of independent assurance mechanisms on investor confidence.

Industrialization and Technical Transformation on the Agenda

The conference program includes numerous sessions focused on the technical and structural transformation of offshore wind. Global Offshore Wind Segment Lead Peter Constantin Brun will analyze the sector’s scaling capacity and existing bottlenecks in the session titled “Is Europe’s Offshore Wind Ready to Industrialise?” Leonardo Barriatto will present applications of machine learning and data dynamics in wind farms, while Sigurd Pettersen will offer innovative approaches to space-sharing between fish farms and offshore wind projects.

Sustainable Growth Through Joint Industry Projects

Throughout the event, DNV will also share current work on technical topics such as offshore wind industrialization and standardization, dynamic bird curtailment systems, and offshore substation certification through poster presentations and Joint Industry Projects (JIP). These contributions reveal not only the sector’s growth but also the infrastructural elements that enable sustainable and reliable scaling.

Comprehensive Vision Through Six Strategic Themes

The themes DNV highlights at WindEurope 2026 provide a framework that more clearly defines offshore wind’s role in the global energy system. These themes include system constraints facing offshore wind scale-up, the transition of floating wind technologies from pilot phase to commercialization, digitalization in renewable energy, supply chain resilience and industrialization, the importance of independent certification, and the impacts of electrification on energy systems.

DNV’s comprehensive approach at WindEurope 2026 once again demonstrates that the offshore wind sector has become not merely a technical growth area, but a strategic industry positioned at the center of the energy transition.
