Enda Enerji to Increase Urla WPP’s Installed Capacity by 65%

Enda Enerji Holding is preparing to expand the capacity of the Urla Wind Power Plant (WPP) in İzmir. Once completed, the project will increase the plant’s electrical installed capacity from 13 MWe to 21.4 MWe and raise the number of wind turbines from five to seven.
A key milestone has been reached in the capacity expansion project at the Urla WPP, which forms part of Enda Enerji Holding’s renewable energy portfolio. The required forestry permit has been secured, and the site handover procedures have been completed.
Operated by İYTE RES Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., an indirect subsidiary of Enda Enerji Holding, the facility occupies an important position in the company’s wind energy portfolio, with a capacity factor exceeding 40% and strong wind potential.
The Urla WPP currently operates with a mechanical installed capacity of 15 MWm and an electrical installed capacity of 13 MWe, supported by five wind turbines.
Under the expansion project, two additional turbines with a combined electrical capacity of 8.4 MWe will be installed. Once the investment is completed, the plant’s total installed capacity will reach 23.4 MWm/21.4 MWe, while the number of turbines will rise to seven. This will represent an increase of approximately 65% in the facility’s electrical installed capacity.
“We will use our existing generation potential more effectively”
Commenting on the project, Enda Enerji CEO Hüseyin Metin Tuncay said:
“We have completed another important permitting stage in our Urla WPP capacity expansion project. With this investment at Urla WPP, which stands out for its strong wind potential and capacity factor of more than 40%, we will increase our electrical installed capacity by approximately 65%. This will allow us to use our existing generation potential more effectively while expanding our installed wind power capacity.”
Tuncay added that investments aimed at expanding the capacity of the company’s existing power plants form an important part of Enda Enerji’s growth strategy. The company is targeting a total installed capacity of 500 MW by 2030.
