Türkiye’s Metals Sector to Reach $208 Billion in 2026

A new report by Allianz Trade examines the global production outlook, investment trends and Türkiye’s strategic position in the metals industry. According to the report, the value of Türkiye’s fabricated metal products and basic metals sector is expected to reach $208 billion in 2026.
Globally, gross output in basic metals and fabricated metal products reached approximately $9.6 trillion in 2025. The sector is forecast to continue expanding in 2026, supported by demand from industrial production and the global energy transition.
Energy Transition Drives Demand for Metals
The Allianz Trade Metals Sector Report covers a broad range of commodities, from iron ore and steel to copper, gold, lithium and rare earth elements. The report highlights the increasingly critical role of these materials in manufacturing, renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, battery technologies and energy infrastructure.
As the global energy transition accelerates demand for metals, investment in new mining and production capacity, supply chain security and access to critical raw materials are becoming key priorities for the industry.
Türkiye Holds a Strategic Position in the Global Metals Market
The report also provides an extensive assessment of Türkiye’s role in the global metals industry. It notes that the country holds a structurally significant position thanks to its manufacturing capacity, developed industrial infrastructure and proximity to major markets.
Türkiye produced 36.9 million tonnes of crude steel in 2024, making it the world’s seventh-largest steel producer. Its metal-processing capacity, export connections and access to European, Middle Eastern and North African markets are among the principal factors supporting the sector’s growth potential.
