How can you save money with correct heating methods?

Alarko Carrier Heating Product Manager Başak Dere pointed out that the façade on which the building is located, the amount of light the place receives during the day, and the materials used for thermal insulation during its construction are among the most important determinants of heating buildings in winter months, and shared important recommendations that can reduce heating costs.

Hot water pipes should be insulated with foam

Stating that hot water pipes should be insulated with foam, Dere said; “Pipe lagging (insulating hot water pipes with foam tubes) keeps the water inside the pipes warmer longer and prevents the pipes from freezing. It also makes heating and hot water much more efficient. You can purchase these pipe insulation foams from any DIY store and install them in seconds.

It is also very important to check whether the radiators are heating up to the ceiling. If radiators are not heating up, you probably need to learn how to bleed air from a radiator. This method means preventing the hot water from rising and releasing the air trapped at the top. The radiator bleeder wrench can be used to open the small valve at the top. The air will be heard hissing when the process is performed; “This will provide significant savings,” he said.

Combi boiler maintenance should definitely be done

Dere stated that among the cheap heating methods in winter, all air conditioning devices in the house, especially the combi boiler, should be maintained; “Combi boilers need maintenance just like people. By calling the service for an annual maintenance of your home combi boiler, it can be ensured that it lasts longer and works more efficiently. If this is not done, savings will not be achieved and combi boiler usage will be interrupted.

Additionally, caulking gaps around windows and doors can help save money on heating bills. Allocating a budget for an insulation tape designed for this purpose can make heating more comfortable.”
